Airisk Sollari and Kina

Name: Airisk Sollari
Age: 23
Race: Hylian
Gender: Male
Personality: Airisk is what most people would find to be an ordinary boy. He is perfectly average in every way. He comes from a middle-class merchant family, he is the youngest of three boys, he’s never really known much struggle, he received a normal education for one of his stature, and even his looks are downright average. He was spoiled as a child, being the youngest of three, especially by his mother. The only thing exceptional about him is his determination. Whenever he sets his mind on something he never stops until it is done; however, it has left him with a terrible case of tunnel vision. His determination pulled through when he decided he would join the Aethros guard as a teen. He became exceptionally good at wielding the lance through rigorous self-training. Though he is diligent in his training, he’s a slacker at just about everything else. When he’s on his breaks he’s often seen napping under a large tree behind the Spyridon gardens. He’s a care-free, gentle young man with a contagious smile.
History: Ever since he was a child, all Airisk dreamed about was joining the Aethros guard under House Spyridon. As soon as he was old enough to get his hands on a lance he trained day in and day out for just that purpose, and because he was the youngest of three he had no family obligations to tie him down. This often made Airisk the target of his eldest brother Quinn. Because Quinn was obligated to inherit the business while his youngest brother just did whatever he wanted on a whim put him on edge. However his other brother, Marith, and his mother gave him all the encouragement and support that he needed, and did everything in their power to make sure he had the best teachers. Boot camp was grueling. It is still the hardest thing he has ever done in his life, but once he reached his knighthood he passed with ease and became a knight under the House Spyridon.

Apperance: He is the typical Hylian young man with shaggy blonde hair (pulled into a low ponytail to keep from hindering his vision), bright blue eyes, fair skin, and a gentle smile. As mentioned before he has an average appearance, including an average height of 6 feet.

Weapon: Lance

Name: Kina
Age: 21
Race: Sheikah
Gender: Female
Personality: Kina is quiet and withdrawn. She takes her studies as an herbalist very, very seriously. She often comes off as cold and aloof to those who try to speak with her, because she never speaks more than she has to. The truth is, however, that she is simply too cowardly to speak to people, so her social skills aren’t quite what they should be for a woman her age.
History: Kina is an orphan who came from a very, very small village. She has never known her parents, and, in a sense, was raised by the entire village in which she was born. She could see spirits for a while, but since a lot of other people couldn’t, she assumed she should keep it a secret. Because she tried to keep her spirit seeing a secret, as a child she never really understand how to speak with people without coming off as aloof and stand-offish. She could never find the courage to speak to the other kids. Instead, she helped the local apothecary with her garden. She always enjoyed working in the garden. The idea of growing something in order to help people always settled well with her. When she was old enough she became a full-born apprentice. Though it was tough memorizing all the formulas and components to the potions, it was always well worth the effort in the end. At the age of 20 she became a partner with the old apothecary, and she travels to neighboring towns in a cart in order to sell her potions.
Apperance: She has long silver hair that is pulled into a braid that stops at her shoulders. Like most Sheikah, she also has red eyes, pointed ears, and tanned skin. She is rather small and skinny (around 5’1” and only 100lbs). She wears small specticals to help her read.

Weapon: None

Character Profile: Cast Silarion

Name: Cast Silarion
Age: 27
Race: Hylian
Gender: Male
Personality: Liars breed liars. Cast was born and bred among people whose existence depended on how well they could portray exactly what someone wanted, and he picked up the skills very well. Instead of being reliable and concrete, his personality is adaptable and fluid and he is very hard to read or anticipate. On the contrary, he reads people and behaves in a way suited to that person. He’s adept at portraying exactly he wants to in both his mannerisms and body language.

Despite all this, there is a formed personality in his core. His ability to manipulate people has made this natural personality a little arrogant and playful, but because he’s grown up digging out his own existence in society, he’s no stranger to seriousness either. Most people have a hard time seeing his true nature for what it is, knowing what is the real Cast.

Appearance: Cast is fairly tall, standing about 6'1" with an average build. He's relatively successful at his chosen profession, so he's filled out rather nicely with muscle over the years, looking nothing like the scrawny street rat he used to. His hair is a darker, ash blonde color contrasting against his honey brown eyes. He also keeps a very short beard, which he keeps trimmed and neat like his hair in an effort to remain relatively nondescript.

History: The bastard son of a whore, Cast was surprisingly well cared for in his early years. The house his mother worked for was very communal and had a habit of caring for one another’s children like their own. Local street rats and orphans were often jealous that the children born to this particular brothel were fed, clothed and sometimes even educated by the women, so they targeted them anytime they set foot out of the whore house. Cast was small and scrawny, but he never backed down from fights, which lead to him losing more than his fair share. Many of the children simply took the beatings and teasing in stride and refused to stand up for one another. This wasn't what their mother's were teaching them, he reasoned, so he would argue and confront the others about their cowardice. His words never amounted to anything more than his own isolation from the rest of the children, much to his mother’s dismay. But it didn’t bother him quite so much. He was fearless and long decided his mother was the only one important in his life.

Her death from syphilis hit him hard. The rest of the whores took him under their care in his mother’s stead, but Cast barely ate or slept for months. One day he simply disappeared. None of the women could find him or figure out where he went, so they simply gave up, praying for the goddesses to take care of him.

Already a budding idealist, Cast became determined to protect women from his mother's fate, protect them from resorting to prostitution. Reality burned this naivety to ash, leaving only a hollowed existence in its place for years, as the boy grew into a man. He became a simple thief, working alone, picking off the masses to drag his own existence through life.

Well into his teenage years, half starved one day, he woke to the reality that this path would kill him and soon. He contemplated letting the hunger eat him heart and soul... and found himself met with a visage of his mother on her deathbed, writhing in pain until nothing remained in her eyes. Terror lodged itself in his heart and drove him to reclaim his life. So using every tool at his disposal, he set out to do just that.

Cast now maintains himself as a skilled con-artist, using a variety of assumed names. Only contacts he uses to acquire certain tools know him by his real name.

Weapon: Street fighting and a hidden dagger.
Other: Cast possesses strange magic that he generally ignores because he has never understood it.

Character Profile: Elrin Doyle

Name: Elrin Doyle
Age: 28
Race: Sheikah
Gender: Male
Personality: Elrin, on duty, is focused and alert, ready to complete whatever task is ahead of him. Even if it seems a little ridiculous. Around others, however, he lightens the formalities, willing to kid around. Even then, he's still rather quiet, mostly observing rather than acting.

History: Elrin has yet to explain exactly why a Sheikah has forsakened his tribe to be a steward to the Warrior houses. Nor is he about to do so soon. He only speaks of a 'great mistake', and leaves it at that.

Perhaps it was this mistake that led him to be such an astute steward for the Lady Nausicaa. With his skills, he rose in rank quickly. It seemed little time at all that he was chosen to guard the Lord's niece.

Appearance: Elrin is a tall man, with a young freckled face. A mole dots under one of his red eyes, and pushes back most of his brown hair. Otherwise, he tries to stay as immaculately dressed as possible in his formal position.

Weapon: A naginata, a spear like weapon with a slashing blade at the end.

Character Profile: Nausicaa Spyrion

Name: Nausicaa Spyridon
Age: 24
Race: Hylian
Gender: Female
Personality: On the surface, Nausicaa can appear flighty and unfocused. However, her mind is often processing as much as possible in the background, so she often surprises folks with how much she really does know. She is an optimist, although she can be very impulsive, and ignorant of lower class culture.

History: Nausicaa was born the only child of the previous Lord Spyridon, who was unfortunately slain on one of his raids against the moblins. Thus her care was passed onto Lord Theseus, the new heir of the house hold. Having no children himself, he doted on the young girl. He trained her with the rapier, and allowed her freedom of thought. This was seen as somewhat odd for a young girl, but the Lord would have it no other way. Nausicaa herself is quite pleased with her upbringing, wanting to bring order and justice to her people.

Appearance: Nausicaa is a well maintained woman, who hot rolls her mint green hair before every outing, as well as lining her gray eyes with kohl. And always, has a pristine outfit waiting for her. She takes great pride in her appearance, and will not feign modesty about it.

Weapon: Rapier, which she considers an elegant weapon.

Character Profiles: Cresta and Ahn Aristille

Name: Cresta Aristille
Age: 22
Race: Hylian
Gender: Female
Personality: In her shop, Cresta is most often the owner who deals with and takes orders from customers due to her approachable, sociable, and friendly demeanor. She's also patient and has a mostly soft-boiling temper, so she gets along with mostly everyone and rarely has aggressive outbursts. And she's a bit of an adventurous dreamer in her head. She would never leave the practicality of her real-world business without good reason, but she's always wondered what it would be like to travel and meet strange people.

Appearance: Although standing on the shorter side at 5'1", Cresta's muscular build makes her a force to be reckoned with. It comes with the work, which she's very fond of, so she's never been particularly self-conscious about how masculine her body looks. She does purposely try to compensate in other ways though, keeping long hair, always wearing earrings in her lobes, and dressing more feminine at times when not burning the late night oil at the forge. Her hair is strawberry blonde and a bit on the curly side, matching with her freckles and bright hazel eyes.

History: Ahn and Cresta were born the bastard children to one of Hyrule’s most powerful lords. Their mother was a young servant girl in the castle who was impressed into her lord’s chambers and shortly after became pregnant with the twins. As this man was known for killing any bastard he sired, their mother enlisted the help of the head of staff to hide her pregnancy from him until the baby could be born and negotiated to have her sister take and shelter the child at her home in East Bridge until it was safe. However, she didn’t know she was pregnant with twins.

Cresta was the first born and was taken away from her mother and sister immediately after birth and raised by her aunt. To hide her identity and ensure her a stable, independent life, Cresta was passed off as a little boy when she became old enough for an apprenticeship. Her master, a blacksmith and armorer in town, remained blissfully unaware of his apprentice’s sex until well into her years as a young woman. By then, he saw no point in tossing her out because she never showed any slack due to her gender and did good work. Admittedly, he had also developed a soft spot for the girl which only grew more doting and adoring once he began to think of her as his own daughter.

A few years ago, she set out to do her own  in Golden Crossing with a fellow apprentice. They’re quickly gaining a reputation for their work, but Cresta’s gender is often times as much a hindrance to her business as it is a commodity.

She and her twin Ahn have never met.

Weapon: A smith’s hammer
Other: Cresta is an accomplished tool smith and armorer. Her companion in business focuses primarily on weapon smithing.

Name: Ahnaliss “Ahn” Aristille
Age: 22
Race: Hylian
Gender: Female
Personality: Despite having a very kind and carefree role model in her knight, Sir Moren, Ahn has grown up quite serious in nature. Male members of the honor guard with often joke and gamble when they're at home in Geddon, and normally jest at her expense for the fact that she never seems to relax. But she is rather determined to prove herself capable at any cost, even if it means never dropping her guard. She has very few friends because her seriousness makes her also seem aloof, but to those she has, she is very loyal. She tries to be affectionate as well to make those close to her understand how much they mean to her, but it normal comes across awkwardly which makes her clam up.
Appearance: Surrounded by burly knights in heavy armor almost all the time, Ahn looks severely out of place. She is only about 5'1" with wispy strawberry blonde hair, hazel eyes and freckles. But beneath her armor is a body petite in nature but toned with muscle from years of training in the knight's arts. She normally wears her armor, designed specially to fit her smaller frame and woman's body, but when off-duty or on leisure days, Ahn pointedly wears practical clothing with a feminine cut to assert herself as a woman refusing to any longer pretend she is a man.

Ahn was the second twin born. Panicking to save the child left behind, Ahn's mother gave herself little time to recover before running away from the estate with her. Infection set in quickly and the young mother barely made it to a small village before fever took her. An old woman took pity on the infant and raised her as her own.

This old woman had already raised two sons and a daughter and watched her daughter suffer long in a loveless marriage before hanging herself in her misery. She feared to send this baby girl down the same path, so she chose to raise her with the public identity of a boy.

When Ahn was old enough, she enlisted into service as a knight's page. Although it didn’t take her knight, Sir Moren, more than a couple years to realize Ahn was a girl, he let her keep up the charade until the day she decided it no longer mattered.

Ahn only waited until the day she was named a squire before revealing her secret. Many other knights demanded Sir Moren release her from his service, but the old knight had nothing to say and only treated Ahn like nothing had changed. Bullying from the other squires came more frequently after that, and when she came of age for knighthood, she was refused supposedly on the basis of her unknown lineage. However, her skills were no mystery by then and she was quickly taken into the service of the Lord Vykinn as part of his honor guard.

She and her twin Cresta have never met.

Weapon: One-handed longsword.
Other: Ahn isn't very used to her birth name since it was hardly used until she was in her teens. She also gets a kestrel emblazoned on every blade and breastplate she has made because the mother she can't remember was named Kestrel, according to the woman who adopted her.

Character Profile -- Brekken Grimmod

Name: Brekken Grimmod
Age: 13 years from his death, at age 26
Gender: Male
Race: Hylian (now a spirit)
Location: Shadow Realm (previously Tyria, member of the house of Grimmod)

Appearance: Brekken's appearance now, as a resident of the Shadow Realm, is unchanged in features, but markedly different in every other way. He once possessed the dark good looks of the House of Grimmod: sharp, prominent nose, strong jaw and chin. Now he appears to the Light Realm in mostly gray hues and blank expression.

Background: House of Grimmod -- in the words of the lower class, a house that "reproduced like rabbits." Daphnes Grimmod, after all, had four different wives, twice as many mistresses, and his sons followed suit. What resulted from this is more sons and daughters and grandsons and granddaughters of the House of Grimmod than had any other houses in Hyrule. Brekken was one such grandson, though through which exact Grimmod line people had long lost track of. He merely appeared one day on the scene with letters of introduction from Lord Grimmod; promptly established his household as a bachelor; and began to socialize among the elite. During his lifetime, Brekken was a charmer, merry-maker extraordinaire. He was notorious for going to the nobleman's public houses and buying rounds for everyone present. The quintessential debonair fellow, Brekken threw the most lavish parties, was known by everyone and knew everyone in return. He wore always upon his person a very prestigious ring -- a diamond held in the jaws of a serpent on each side of it. When asked about it, he always told that it was an old family heirloom.

It wasn't until his death that it was realized how little anyone actually knew him. One evening after dinner, he told his servants he was going to take a short ride on his horse, known to be a very well-trained white mare. Hours later, the horse returned without a rider.

The oddest part was how no one from the House of Grimmod seemed to notice. A couple of weak inquiries were sent out from Daphnes in attempts to locate him, but after awhile, all the other nobles took for granted that Brekken had taken his sense of adventure elsewhere, perhaps to the expanding west. Life went on, and soon, he was all but forgotten.

It wasn't until the aftermath of a horrible storm ten years later that a small group of children wandered through a wooded area and saw an object sticking up out of the dirt -- a diamond, held in the jaws of serpents. Attached was a skeletal hand. Someone had finally found Brekken Grimmod. With his bones was found an arrow that had struck him in the chest, and his skull was cracked from behind.

The Grimmod family's immediate reaction was puzzling. As the famous ring was still intact, and plenty of money found stashed in a pocket, it was accepted that whomever had killed Brekken did not do so with the intent to steal from him. However, the Grimmod family did not seek justice or seem very troubled about the murder in the least. This lead to rumors that the murder was committed from inside the family.

The hauntings began shortly after he was reburied. Possessing a short tolerance for the supernatural, Lord Grimmod arranged to purchase a Light Parcel as quickly as possible, hiring a young woman with the strange name of Garden to send Brekken off into the afterlife. Exhumed for yet a third time from his grave, Brekken had the amulet placed over his chest, and Garden was the last to see his spirit for awhile, as, warmed by his Light Parcel, he gave a modest smile, and turning to walk away to the Shadow Realm.

But now, something's happened.  For the last few months, Brekken has been appearing once again, without his amulet, which presumably had been stolen or he had tossed away. This was an unfortunate common occurrence these days, given the bleeding together of the various realms of the world -- but Brekken seems to follow Garden exclusively. He shows up at unexpected places, leaning against a wall, standing right in front of her, or even sitting on a surface, each time with a blank, confused expression on his face as he stares off. Despite Garden's efforts to engage him and find out what he wants, he seems not to hear her, with the exception of two times when he suddenly looked at her as though he were seeing her for the first time, and began shouting frantically. His words were impossible to discern, however, as they sound to the human ear as distant, haunting echoes.

Caught between realms in substance, Brekken's mind and emotions are caught in a limbo of their own. What will stir him from his odd trance? Is Garden doomed to have his spirit attached to her -- which she assumes is because hers was the last face he saw with his own mind and emotions still in tact? Are those of both the Realm of Light and the Realm of Shadow without hope of having their own separate worlds restored? Who can bear the cost if they aren't?

Character Profile - Garden Dagfinn

Name:  Garden Dagfinn
Age: 28
Gender: Female
Race: Hylian
Location:  Lives in the town of East Bridge, works in Golden Crossing

Appearance:  I do faceclaims since I don't draw, and I'm choosing Meghan Trainor for this girl, and not because she happens to have a song out I love :D  I like her unusual, yet friendly face, and I can see it in Garden!  (See a picture below)  I imagine however that she is a little pleasantly plump, yet still fit, and energetic.

Personality:  Garden is a girl with big ideas and big dreams, given to her by her father and her former job -- which opened her up to aspects of life few ever experience.  Her large personality has been somewhat burdened down by her loss of that job, and the birth of her son -- an unusual kid whom she's had trouble bonding with.  Taking her artistic abilities out in her textiles, cheaply woven by her father but made quality by Garden's exotic dyes, Garden's trying to keep her priorities straight and her imagination from wandering away with her.

Background:  Garden isn't a medium.... exactly.  But she did interact with spirits for her entire adult life up until recently.  In former years in Hyrule, those who had passed on, yet who had the habit of hanging on to the Realm of Light, were gently persuaded to travel on to the next world with items called Light Parcels.  Light Parcels could be purchased by family or close friends of the deceased, filled with images and warm memories, then worn around the neck of the spirit in the form of a lantern necklace.  The Light Parcel helped the dead to feel at peace "moving on", as long-time loves and memories were not lost, but carried along with them to warm them during their long, cold, miserable trek through the Shadow Realm ahead.  The concept was invented by the Grand Witch of Hyrule and provided a little solace to the dead, but much more solace to the living who could feel good about helping a loved one more on.  Garden trained in Light Parceling as a young girl, having been moved by the practice when her father had purchased one for her mother, who had died years ago.

But things have changed.  Now that the Realm of Shadow is leaking into the Realm of Light, spirits have cast aside their light parcels, distracted by the prospect of the brighter Light offered by merely inhabiting the land of the living once again.  Having gone nearly bankrupt in the last year, the Light Parcel shop Garden worked for closed down, and she has been forced to a form of work no longer full of meaning -- dyeing and selling fabrics.  Garden owns her own booth among the village shops, working from morning to night to make a living for herself and her three-year-old son, Jarl.

The problem?  A man's spirit continues to insist upon following her around.  She recalls having sold his family a Light Parcel around three years ago, but nothing stands out about him other than that his cause of death remains very much unknown... and that he had been dead a decade before his body was ever found.  Ever since the Shadow Realm has opened, he's been almost everywhere she goes, even venturing past the standard Shadow Bubbles around Hyrule.  As Garden has only ever been able to view spirits who allowed themselves to be seen (and therefore, spirits everybody else could see too), this isn't convenient for running a booth in town.  And as if she weren't worried enough about her young son, this is yet another thing for her to have to distract him from....

Garden lives home with her dad, Markwick, and Jarl.

Weapon:  Her dad makes her wear a small dagger for protection, and that's kinda it.

The Races

The world of Hyrule is home to several races, known and unknown.

The Hylians:

A race blessed and beloved by the Goddess Hylia. They are the most developed of the races of Hyrule, living in a society organized with noble warriors protecting the common folk from the dangers of the world. They have characteristically long, pointed ears and they also possess some magic, though the form it takes varies by individual.

The Zoras:

A race of fish folk the live primarily in the lakes and rivers of Hyrule. No one knows where they came from or when they began to appear in Hyrule, but they are a proud race who rarely associate with others.

The Gorons:

A hearty folk who make their homes in the mountains due to their rock-loving diet. It is rumored that these folk have been dwelling on the surface of the world for millennia.

The Gerudo:

Also relatively new to the land of Hyrule, these dark-skinned women already permeate life in the land. They dwell primarily in various clans stretching from the mountains to the desert, but they often have dealings with the Hylians.

The Sheikah:

An enigmatic race of people who have been around since even before the Gorons. They have a long history and rich culture that they take great pride in, although it sometimes alienates them from rest of the world. They also live in many clans, boasting settlements all over the land, but they are second to Hylians in regards to structured society as they are governed by a body of chieftains that preside over the race as a whole.

The Realms

The three realms of the world--Light, Twilight and Shadow--are all separated by only a thin veil that no one but a chosen few may cross.

The Realm of Light:

The realm of living things, blessed and protected by the Golden Goddesses and the Goddess Hylia. The land is divided into three provinces--Faron, Eldin, and Lanaryu, and several races live here including, but not limited to: the Hylians, the Zora, the Gorons, the Gerudo, and the Sheikah.

The Realm of Shadow:

Also referred to as a the Realm of the Dead. Only lost souls and shadow creatures wander in the endless, barren wasteland of black ice.

The Realm of Twilight:

A mysterious world apart from the dichotomy of 'living' and 'dead'. Eldritch creatures of great and mysterious power called the Twili live here.

As the Tale Goes...

Long ago, before the wars for the power of the Triforce, the denizens of the world find themselves in an era of peace. Hylians have long since descended from their islands in the sky and found their place among the races of the surface world, yet the land of Hyrule is still in its infancy. Kings and queens do not yet rule and the wilds of the world, left unchecked for thousands of years, threaten to crush these budding societies.

But a worse threat looms in the darkness. Tears in the thin veils separating the worlds of Light, Twilight and Shadow are beginning to appear. Farms are being swallowed up by darkness and nightmare, bubbles of twilight turn entire villages to wastelands of spirits. Yet no one knows the cause.

Will the realm of Light perish, swallowed up but Twilight and Shadow? Or will a hero find a way to end this threat to the new world?
